"In 1909 Marinetti, Boccioni and Carrà left by train to Florence for a punitive expedition against Soffici, who had written some excessively critical articles on Futurism, an artistic movement of which the three were the founders. On arriving in Florence they find Soffici at the bar chatting placidly with Medardo Rosso. Surprisingly Marinetti slaps Soffici in the face with two loud slaps. The result is a brawl. In the general parapiglia the bow tie that Marinetti wears around his neck swirls, appears, disappears. The police arrive and take everyone to the police station, but everything is resolved without consequences. Bow Tie is a tribute to Marinetti's bow tie, to Futurism and to that rather goliardic event" - Antonella Guidi
